Cocktails, Messy Buns and Love

I went to a work function last night and these cocktails events tend to be a little boring when you don’t know anyone. However, I was very lucky to have met a most engaging celebrity presenter who I hung out with. We had met before at a previous work event but I didn’t have a lot of time to really talk with her. Well I got my chance again and before I knew it,

2 hours passed by in fits of laughter, good talk and just overall great company.

In these days of insta-fame and glam, real is rare, so I’m thankful for meeting an accomplished and confident woman who made my evening really enjoyable. It was extremely refreshing to spend time with a female who just gets it and has it all: smarts, wit, looks, style and not to mention real. No forming, no shade and no ditziness. Ain’t nobody got time for that. ‘Cause we busy being fabulous. Thanks for a wonderful evening Arit! We were on our feet until our toes literally died in our pointy stilettos but we soldiered on like real troopers, grinning from ear to ear and sharing each other’s pain. (Who needs toes when your feet look fabulous right?) Can’t forget the look on your face when I whipped out my flats from my handbag after we left. Hahahaha, priceless!

I think I’ll thank whoever it was that invented the messy bun. It was probably a man- he did it wrong and then claimed that was the whole idea (haha). By the time I got home I was too tired to loosen my hair from the bun I set it in so I plopped on my sleeping cap and passed out. By the time I woke up this morning I noticed the bun held up with all the pins still in although a little messed up. But hey, a messy bun works just as well! Hehehe.

Getting to the tollgate this morning and reaching for my purse I remembered that I’d given away my last change and needed to use the atm. But you know how you know you won’t have cash in your purse but you check anyway as if it would sprout some all by itself? Well I did and found money crammed in, only the way Hubs could. He knew there was a very high chance I’d forget to stop at the ATM as I have done many times before. If he hadn’t done this, I would have had to make two u-turns and drive for quite a bit before finding an atm with cash in it that early morning. #thoughtfulman #IgboRomance.

And so I’m thankful for all the love in my life. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without my support system. They make it so much easier to survive thrive in this country.

Now what are you thankful for?
